Stand alone UART's are the heart of what has been called ďThe internet of things.Ē These chips are serial input and output ICís allow you to connect your devices remotely using standard interfaces such as RS-232, RS-485, USB, and Ethernet. With these ICís, you can connect logic, relays, switches, optocouplers, and other devices to standard digital interfaces. No external parts are required. They support standard supply voltages from 2.5 to 5.25 volts with low power consumption of 5 mA typical. Inputs and outputs are TTL/CMOS compatible. Parts are ROHS compliant, and low EMI.
